Santa fe, at Monastery Lake on March 20 in conjunction with the Trout in the Classroom program.

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at City of Clovis Shooting Range, 726 County Rd. 17, Clovis, NM 88101. The manual can also be downloaded for free at https://www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Department staff will be giving a wildlife presentation at Valencia High School. This event is closed to the public.
Department staff will be running a wildlife station at Caballo Lake State Park. This event is closed to the public.
Class is offered to adults (over 18) who have limited fishing experience. Please do not register if you are an experienced angler or under 18 years of age. Participants will learn how to cast, fish identification, fishing techniques, equipment and gear, knot tying, and rules and regulations. We won’t be fishing but attendees will learn everything necessary to catch black bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, walleye, white bass and yellow perch. It is non-mandatory, but participants can bring the following: their own rod and reel and a fishing license.

The Department will participate at the NWTF Women in the Outdoors Event (WITO) in Cloudcroft, NM. Department staff will be assisting with fishing, turkey calling/hunting and turkey life history presentations.
