This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent or adult present with them during class. All registered students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. The manual can be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/ or students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Rockhound State Park. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program will present an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years. ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program will be fishing with Rio Rancho High School students at Tingley Beach.

This school event is closed to the general public* NMDGF will be giving a turkey presentation to SIPI wildlife students and staff.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education team will be fishing with PE classes from Sandia High School on March 21, 2024 at Tingley Beach. There will be two sessions of 40 participants, with session #1 in the morning and session #2 in the afternoon. The students learned and practiced their casting skills using the NMDGF Fishing in the Schools Kit prior to the fishing date. This event is closed to the public.
This Annual Youth Fishing Clinic is sponsored by the Masonic Lodges of the Pecos Valley. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with judging for the largest/smallest fish at 10 a.m. This event is open to participants age 12 and younger. Bring your own fishing equipment. Refreshments will be provided.
