18th Annual Dragonfly Festival @ Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge

The 18th Annual Dragonfly Festival will be held Sept. 7. The Department of Game and Fish will have a fishing pond, archery range, poach coach and wildlife identification information on site. No fee or registration is required to attend this event. However, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be offering free guided wildlife tours. Reservations are required for these tours. Pre-registration required by 1-10-2020 by 3pm.

Open to ten youth 12 to 17 who have passed hunter education but have not purchased a license. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Ammunition is provided and loaner guns may be available.

OHV Safety Training School Presentation @ SIPI

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will offer an all terrain vehicle (ATV) safety training to the Todd Nims’ Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI) class. This is a free training and is closed to the public. The training will be held at the City of Albuquerque Shooting Range; training machines and safety gear are available. Each student must bring weather appropriate clothing (gloves, boots, long pants and long sleeved shirt), a snack or lunch, water and sunscreen.
