The Department will be participating at the Festival of Cranes in San Antonio, NM. Come see our backyard bass program, focusing on casting skills, and a wildlife information trunk at this event.
This event is sponsored by the Truth or Consequences Public Schools. The classroom workshop will begin with a game called “Who’s responsible for the fish?”. This will be followed with a lesson on hook safety, knots and equipment assembly. The fishing clinic will be held at Elephant Butte Lake. At the lake, we’ll begin with a review on hook safety and knots followed by casting and baits. We will practice catch and release; however, two fish will be kept and used for a fish dissection lesson that is normally conducted sometime after lunch. This is event is closed to the public and only for the participating school.
