NMDGF will be teaching four 45 minute lessons to four different middle school classes that are participating in the Trout in the Classroom program. The lessons will be about New Mexico fishing, how to cast and land a fish, and identifying different game fish in New Mexico.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an off-highway motorcycle safety class hosted by City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years. Dirt bikes and safety gear are available for use during the class.

NMDGF will be teaching a fishing lesson to three different third grade classes that are participating in the Trout in the Classroom program. The students will be learning how to assemble rods, tie knots, bait hooks, cast safely, catch fish, land fish and release fish.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education team will be fishing with PE classes from Sandia High School on March 21, 2024 at Tingley Beach. There will be two sessions of 40 participants, with session #1 in the morning and session #2 in the afternoon. The students learned and practiced their casting skills using the NMDGF Fishing in the Schools Kit prior to the fishing date. This event is closed to the public.
