This event is for the students of Eagle Next Elementary School,  The fishing workshop will cover safety, knots, equipment, and casting followed by a fishing clinic held at Eagle Nest Lake.

Norther New Mexico Community College Fishing @ Santa Cruz Lake

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish’s aquatic education program will work with students from the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Northern New Mexico Community College, fishing on May 5 at Santa Cruz Lake.

Albuquerque Cub Scout Pack #12 Fishing Day @ Tingley Beach

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish’s aquatic education program will fish with 15 members of Cub Scout Pack No. 12 on May 6 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Tingley Beach.

Grant County Mini Expo (Mimbres) @ Bear Canyon Lake
May 6 @ 10:00 am – May 7 @ 4:00 pm

This activity will be used to allow members of the public, both young and old, to be introduced to archery and archery hunting. This station will be one of several stations utilized during a mini expo for the Grant County area in hopes that the local community can see a different side of the conservation officer. All are welcome to attend.

No registration is required.

Grant County Outdoor Show @ Bear Canyon Lake
May 6 @ 10:30 am – 5:30 pm

Event provided by NMDGF conservation officers in the Silver City District to introduce various outdoor activities to the public. Pellet gun basic shooting skills, basic archery skills, OHV simulator (stationary ATV used to teach folks how to ride an ATV safely), poach coach with big game cases from the past, how to live with critters and education on depredation issues, wildlife rehabilitation with live animals and education, learning how to cast with prizes given for accurate casts, USFS-fire prevention. Also, channel catfish will be stocked so bring your fishing tackle and fishing licenses. In addition, snacks and cold drinks will be sold by a local food truck.
