Open Gate Boundary Map OG-122 Roswell

Information: This property sits along the Pecos River, a few miles east of Roswell, near the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The property consists of 2,241 acres located in GMU 33, approximately 10 miles east of Roswell, NM off Highway 380. It is predominantly covered by a mixture of brush and tall grasses along the river and mesquite thickets and native grasses in the more upland areas off the river. It provides fishing access to 1.2 miles of Pecos River shoreline and 6.4 surface acres of water split between two ponds that hold catfish and bass. This property is popular for waterfowl and sandhill crane hunting because of its proximity to the Wildlife Refuge. There are a number of wells and dirt tanks located on many of the private parcels that consistently hold and supply water for livestock and wildlife and provide good pass shooting opportunities for dove, in some of the more upland areas away from the river. This Open Gate property sits along the river and provides some of the only public fishing opportunities in the area.
