Hunter Education @ Lea County Fairgrounds, Yucca Bldg.

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Eunice Pump Supply, 321 N Main, Lovington, NM. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration Details:

Registration opens on September 11 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Youth Group Event: Outdoor activities with girl scout group @ NMDGF Albuquerque Area Office

**This youth group event is closed to the general public**

NMDGF will be doing various outdoor activities with a girl scout group.  Activities will include casting, archery and wildlife presentation.

ATV Safety Class @ City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park
Sep 30 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under 18 years of age.

ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

Fishing with Dolores Gonzales Elementary School @ Tingley Beach
Oct 11 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

The NMDGF Aquatic Education program will be fishing with 40 elementary school kids from Dolores Gonzales Elementary School at Tingley Beach. The NMDGF Aquatic Education staff will review knot tying, setting up a fishing rig, and casting procedures, and how to put a rig together. Participants will then set up their own rigs to fish.
