Valle de Oro NWR Latino Conservation Week – Outdoors 101 Day @ Valle de Oro NWR

The NMDGF will be participating in the Valle de Oro NWR Latino Conservation Week – Outdoors 101 Day. NMDGF personnel will be demonstrating casting skills with children visiting the refuge. Other non-Department activities will be provided as well.

Off-Highway Motorcycle (OHM) @ City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will offer a free off-highway motorcycle (OHM) safety training class to the public. The class will be held at the City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park west of Double Eagle Airport. Training machines and safety gear are available; no sharing is allowed. Each student must bring weather-appropriate clothing (gloves, boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirt), a snack or lunch, water and sunscreen. COVID precautions will be followed; COVID plan is available for download when registering for class.

Students must have a customer identification number with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. All students must pre-register to reserve a place in any class that is offered. This year’s event features hands-on demonstrations of the latest equipment for hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. Off-highway vehicles, recreational vehicles, boats and kayaks will be on display by local dealers. Conservation organizations, outfitters and guides will be on hand to answer questions. Youth participants will have an opportunity to learn or enhance skills at the free catch-and-release fishing pond. All visitors can enjoy the pellet shooting range, sponsored by the Bernalillo 4-H, and the archery range. A silent auction will give participants the chance to win one of over 10 New Mexico bighorn sheep European-style mounts.

Habitat Stamp Program Public Meeting

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has scheduled a public meeting in order to allow the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to discuss and prioritize current Habitat Stamp Program project opportunities. Members of the public are invited to attend this hybrid public meeting in order to provide comment(s). Tres Piedras Shooting Range Cleanup @ Tres Piedras Shooting Range

Department staff will conduct a range cleanup at the department’s Tres Piedras shooting range on Sept. 21, 2022. The range will be closed to the public on this day for staff safety.

Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle (ROV) Training for Los Alamos National Labs Employees

Hunter Education Instructor Training Workshop @ Sidney Paul Gordon Shooting Range

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. Interested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:
