Hunter Education – Field Day @ Kewa Library

A Field Day course is an accelerated, instructor-led hunter education course and is for students 10 years of age and older. Students under 11 must have a parent/adult present with them during class. This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual by contacting Ed Rosetta at 505-263-5337 or the manual can be downloaded for free at anytime from, hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

ATV Safety Class @ Village of Los Lunas River Park
Feb 25 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years.

ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

Space is limited – all students must have a free account with the Department of Game and Fish (https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/). Students must be at least 6 years of age.

This course is open to students seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, virtual break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from at Imperial, 1004 N. Pope St, Silver City, New Mexico. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Feb. 13 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Hunter Education – Instructor Training Workshop @ Merrion Oil & Gas Company Office,
Mar 11 @ 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses.

This workshop also provides a New Mexico Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required New Mexico hunter education number.

All participants must register prior to attending. Please see registration details below.

Interested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:
1. Create a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/
2. Email the Conservation Education Manager at Storm.Usery@dgf.nm.gov to request a Volunteer Application.
3.Once the application is approved, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account

This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components and a live fire component. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Albuquerque Game and Fish Office, 7816 Alamo Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120, or the manual can be downloaded for free at anytime from, hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets and a signed parent authorization to participate in the live fire portion upon arrival to class.
