Sierra Blanca Archery Shoot @ Moon Mountain Disc Gold Course

This will be a 3D archery shoot competition where youth will compete for prizes such as belt buckles and bows. There will also be a team (duo) competition where an adult and a youth pair up and compete against other teams for belt buckles. Archery equipment will be provided. Individuals can use their own equipment for fun but in order to compete for prizes they have to use our equipment. Food and drinks will be provided.

No registration. Need to finish shooting by 11 a.m.

Ute Lake Outdoor Day @ Ute Lake State Park ( McFarland Ramp Overlook)

Outdoor Day at Ute Lake State Park in Logan. Activities will include the Poach Coach, pellet gun trailer, casting demonstrations, wildlife identification presentation, archery (NASP) and water safety presentation by New Mexico State Parks. NMDGF Officers and State Park Rangers will be present and putting on the event. It will be a busy weekend at the lake, and, weathering permitting, should be a large turnout.

Ladies Fly Fishing – Casting Clinic @ NW Area Game & Fish Office

This class is open to any lady seeking to learn or improve on their fly fishing, casting skills and abilities. Participants will receive instruction and coaching from Trish Valdez and other Trout Unlimited – Bosque Chapter members to gain or improve their fly casting skills for fly fishing. No equipment is necessary but ladies are encouraged to bring their own if they have it. This is for all levels of angler!

Santa Fe 3-D Archery Shootout @ Santa Fe NMDGF Area Office

Youth archers will shoot a 10-target, walking, 3-D range utilizing a Genesis bow. Equipment will be provided if needed.

NASP – Basic Archery Instructor Certification Workshop @ Hoover Middle School

This workshop is for certification as a Basic Archery Instructor for participation in the National Archery in the Schools Program. Hunting/Shooting/Fishing Camp Contractor ITB pre-bid meeting @ Zoom

The Department will be hosting a pre-bid Zoom meeting to answer questions potential contractors may have about becoming a Department hunting/shooting/fishing camp contractor. We will provide an overview of what responsibilities the contractor would have as well as general requirements.

Overview: Camp contractors will host day and overnight hunting, fishing and shooting camps, as needed and determined by the Department. We encourage anyone interested in becoming a camp contractor to attend this meeting. However, attendance is NOT MANDATORY to place a bid. New Mexico State Fair Exhibit @ Natural Resources Building at Expo New Mexico

National Archery in the School Program – Basic Archery Instructor Workshop @ Deming High School

This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions,  review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at the Roswell Game & Fish Office (M-F 8am-5pm) or the manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets and live fire authorization forms upon arrival to class.

New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program staff will be fishing with up to 25 youth from the Santa Fe home-school community. Department staff will be on hand to teach the kids how to tie a fishing knot, set up a fishing rig and practice casting skills before fishing.

Fishing with Dolores Gonzales Elementary School @ Tingley Beach

New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program staff will be fishing with 40 elementary school kids from Dolores Gonzales Elementary School at Tingley Beach. Department staff will review knot tying, setting up a fishing rig and casting procedures and how to put a rig together. Participants will then set up their own rigs to fish.

Rio Rancho Children’s Water Festival @ Rio Rancho Special Events Center

The NMDGF Aquatic Education program will be participating in the annual Rio Rancho Children’s Water Festival.  Aquatic Education staff will be running the casting skills station for up to 25 fifth grade students at a time. The casting skills station will be one of four activity stations at the festival, and students will rotate and participate in all four stations.
