The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has scheduled a public meeting on May 21 at 5:30 p.m. to allow the Citizen Advisory Committee to prioritize proposed projects for the upcoming fiscal year. Members of the public are invited to attend this meeting in order to become familiar with the proposed projects and to offer feedback and opinions.

Free Fishing Day 2021

Anglers can fish for free in New Mexico on Saturday, June 5, as the state celebrates National Boating and Fishing Week.

Anyone can fish for free in public fishing waters throughout the state Saturday, June 5, but everyone must observe bag limits and all other rules and regulations. For more information, please visit www.wildlife.state.nm.us.

Maps of public fishing waters, lists of where to find family-friendly fishing and tips on how to fish also can be found on the department website.

Girl Scouts Loves State Parks @ Storrie Lake / Pecos Canyon

The New Mexico State Parks is hosting a “Girls Scouts Loves State Parks” event. The
NMDGF will hold participating events at Storrie Lake near Las Vegas, New Mexico
and in Pecos Canyon near Pecos, New Mexico.

1. Storrie Lake – 24 to 48 girls will participate in a target and 3-D archery event.
2. Pecos Canyon – 25 girls will participate in fishing for beginners event.

Kindergarten Fishing Day @ Riverside Park Pond, Aztec NM

The NMDGF will be conducting a fishing clinic and a Conservation Education animal trunk presentation with up to 100 Kindergarten and 1st grade students at Riverside Park, Aztec, New Mexico on October 1, 2021. Most, if not all of the participants have little to no angling experience. The students will be broken up into groups of 25, and sub-divided into groups of five. All COVID restrictions, including NMDGF restrictions will be followed.
