NMDGF will be giving three wildlife presentations fro Lavaland Elementary first graders.
This course includes a live fire session on the Department’s pellet rifle trailer and is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at the Creightons Town and Country, 1625 S. Avenue D, Portales, NM 88130, or the manual can also be downloaded for free at https://www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program staff will be fishing with 40 elementary school kids from Dolores Gonzales Elementary School at Tingley Beach. Department staff will review knot tying, setting up a fishing rig and casting procedures and how to put a rig together. Participants will then set up their own rigs to fish.
