NMDGF employees are encouraged to participate in a 3D archery fun shoot at the Santa Fe office. Beginners are welcome and all equipment (user friendly) is provided. The archery range will be a walking range (just like if you were golfing) but with 10-15 targets. Archers will be groups with two to three other archers to walk the range. Each archer will shoot once, score their arrow and proceed to the next target. Scores will be tabulated at the conclusion of the event. This event is closed to the public.

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. 3.Once the application is approved, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account
Department staff will be making repairs to the berms and doing a general cleanup at the department’s Stephen M. Bush Shooting Range in Clayton, New Mexico. This will take place over Oct. 12-13, 2022. The range will be closed to the public on these days for staff safety.
NMDGF will be giving two presentations on elk to wildlife students at Cleveland High School. Event closed to the public.
NMDGF will be working the Bernardo Youth Pheasant Hunt. This hunt is only open for youth who drew a permit.
The NMDGF Aquatic Education Program will be fishing with 50 Capitan middle and high school students with the Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization at Alto Lake, New Mexico, on Oct. 15, 2022. NMDGF fishing contractor Casey Harthorn and Dennis Segura will be working the event. This event is closed to the public.
Las Cruces Public Schools, in cooperation with the Las Cruces Police Department, is having their annual Fall Fishing Days for children with disabilities on Nov. 1-4, 2022. An estimated 225 elementary, middle, and high school age special needs students from around the school district will be participating over four days of fishing with sponsorship from the NMSU Bass Club.
