Hunter Education – Farmington @ Merrion Oil & Gas Corporation

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Merrion Oil & Gas Corporation, 610 Reilly Ave., Farmington, NM 87401. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Dec. 27 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Ladies Hunting and Angling Social Hour @ Virtual on Zoom

Join us Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. for an inspirational and uplifting journey on how avid outdoors woman, Joni Marie got started. She will highlight her trials and errors of learning to shoot and hunt with a rifle after being an avid bowhunter all of her life. Not only will you learn about archery and bowhunting basics from an expert during this session you will learn through a novice’s recent, personal experiences with adapting to shoot a rifle and you will find her inspirational narrative worth joining.

Video Series Premiere – Drawing Your Way to Success!

Join New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Communications Director Darren Vaughan and Licensing Operations Manager Chad Nelson as they discuss the ins and outs of the 2023-2024 Big Game Draw in the first video of the department’s “Drawing Your Way to Success” series. The video will premiere at 5 p.m. MST Friday, Jan. 20 on YouTube at https://youtu.be/IYFnzBK28oU. The video will be available from this date forward for you to watch at your convenience. We will be premiering additional videos to help you throughout the draw season. The deadline for Draw 1 (bear and turkey) is Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. MST, and the deadline for Draw 2 (Barbary sheep, bighorn sheep, deer, elk, ibex, javelina, pronghorn, oryx, and private-land only deer licenses in Units 2A, 2B, 2C, 4 and 5A) is March 22 at 5 p.m. MST. A Field Day course is an accelerated instructor-led hunter education course and is for students 10 years of age and older. Students under 11 must have a parent/adult present with them during class. This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Rockhound State Park, 9880 Stirrup Road SE, Deming, NM 88030, or the manual can be downloaded for free at anytime from, hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.
