This camp is for Hatch Valley Middle School students who are interested in learning more about the basics of archery and bowhunting. Participants will learn archery basics and safety, how to choose equipment, proper shot placement while hunting, outdoor preparedness, and more! All archery equipment will be provided. This is in conjunction with the NMSU TRIO Upward Bound Program for students who are interested in pursuing a career in natural resources/environmental sciences.
Camp is for Hatch Valley MS students enrolled in the summer camp program.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will offer a free all terrain vehicle (ATV) safety training to the public. The training will be held at the City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park west of Double Eagle Airport. Training machines and safety gear are available; no sharing is allowed. Each student must bring weather appropriate clothing (gloves, boots, long pants and long sleeved shirt), a snack or lunch, water and sunscreen. COVID precautions will be followed; COVID plan is available for download when registering for class.
Students must have a customer identification number with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. All students must pre-register to reserve a place in any class that is offered. The NMDGF will be participating in the Valle de Oro NWR Latino Conservation Week – Outdoors 101 Day. NMDGF personnel will be demonstrating casting skills with children visiting the refuge. Other non-Department activities will be provided as well.
