Hunter Education @ Harding County Community Building

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions,  review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from Mr. Edward Fluhman at the Roy Municiple School Office. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration Details:
Registration opens online Sept. 18 through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

ATV Safety Class @ City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park
Oct 21 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under 18 years of age.

ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

NASP – Basic Archery Instructor Certification Workshop @ NMDGF - Albuquerque Office

This workshop is for certification as a Basic Archery Instructor for participation in the National Archery in the Schools Program. Fishing in the Schools Presentation – (APS) Albuquerque Public Schools PE Teacher In-Service @ Highland High School

The Aquatic Education team will conduct a presentation on how to teach fishing in a PE program. We will be conducting two in-service sessions (9:30-10:15 a.m. and 1:05-1:50 p.m.)  – one for elementary PE teachers, and one for secondary PE teachers. The sessions will focus on how the teachers can bring a fishing curriculum into their PE programs and what resources are available to them.

ATV safety class @ Doña Ana County Fairgrounds racetrack
Nov 11 @ 9:30 am – 3:30 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class at the old racetrack at the Doña Ana County Fairgrounds, site of the Southern New Mexico State Fair.

Students completing the class receive the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years on public lands. Students under the age of 18 will also receive a free helmet and goggles.

ATVs and safety gear will be available for use during the class.

Registration Details:

Students must be at least 6 years of age. Space is limited – all students must already have or must create a free account with the Department of Game and Fish (https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/), and register prior to the class to ensure that each student will have an age- and size-appropriate training ATV available.

Archery Event – 1st Annual Corrales, 3-D Shoot Out @ Garfield Middle School

  • Ten and 15 meter NASP Bullseye Competition followed by a 3-D Turkey Target Competition
  • Eight flights with 36 shooting positions per flight
  • NASP program participants only (Fourth – 12th graders)
  • Participants must be associated with a NASP in-school program
