Hunter Education Instructor Training Workshop @ Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a New Mexico Hunter Education Certification to new instructors who need a required New Mexico Hunter Education Number. All participants must register prior to attending. Please see registration details below.

Interested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:

1. Create a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/

2. Fill out a volunteer application at https://new-mexico.volunteers.kalkomey.com/

3.Once the application is approved, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at DC Tactical, 512 Pile St., Clovis, NM 88101. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Jan. 23 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Hunter Education – Field Day (Albuquerque) @ Albuquerque Game and Fish Office

A Field Day course is an accelerated, instructor-led hunter education course and is for students 10 years of age and older. Students under 11 must have a parent/adult present with them during class. This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at the Albuquerque Game and Fish Office, 7816 Alamo Rd. NW, Albuquerque,NM 87120, or the manual can be downloaded for free at anytime from, hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

This course is open to students seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, virtual break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at the Mescalero Conservation Office, 123 Deer Trail. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

These workshops are for the Grady FFA students. The workshops will consist of fishing safety, knots, equipment, fish identification and casting.

Fishing Workshops and Clinic (Albuquerque)

THIS SCHOOL EVENT IS CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

These events are for the students of Coronado Elementary School, Albuquerque. The clinic will consist of fishing safety, knots, equipment, fish identification and fishing. After the fishing portion, we will also have a dissection lesson.

New Mexico Outdoor Adventure Show @ Manuel Lujan Building, Expo New Mexico Fairgrounds

The annual New Mexico Outdoor Adventure Show is back to its regular winter date this year! The show hosted by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish opens Friday, Feb. 17 (Noon-6 p.m.) and continues on Saturday, Feb. 18 (9 a.m.-6 p.m) and Sunday, Feb. 19 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.). The event will again be at the Manuel Lujan Building at Expo New Mexico, located on the state fairgrounds in Albuquerque.

This year’s event features hands-on demonstrations of the latest equipment for hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. Off-highway vehicles, recreational vehicles, boats and kayaks will be on display by local dealers. Conservation organizations, outfitters and guides will be on hand to answer questions. Youth participants will have an opportunity to learn or enhance skills at the free catch-and-release fishing pond. This year’s show will feature its first turkey calling contest, and will host dozens of other interactive activities.

Admission is free to all licensed anglers and hunters. Youth 18 and under get in free and everyone else pays just $3. See you there!

This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from Bloomfield Pawn (please call for hours (505) 632-2972). The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.
