This course will be conducted during the school day to Dexter High School students seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. All students will complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework during class. Students pick up a free hard copy manual during Felix Hernandez’s class. NMDGF will give presentations that focus on fish biology, fishing safety, fishing knots, rules and regulations, equipment preparation, casting and fishing opportunities in New Mexico. At the lake, the students will assemble their gear and go fishing. We normally practice catch and release; however, a few fish will be kept for dissection purposes.
