The Department of Game and Fish will sell 38 oryx licenses for McGregor Range to active-duty military personnel in a first-come, first-served online sale at 10 a.m. MST Dec. 16.

Only active-duty military personnel who did not hold an oryx license for the 2008-2009 season and can provide proof of military assignment are eligible to buy these licenses.  Proof of current military assignment must be received in the Department Special Hunts office no later than 5 p.m. MST Dec. 15. Prior submission of military assignment proof is not valid for this sale. Proof of military assignment can be mailed to the Department of Game and Fish, Special Hunts Office, P.O. Unsold hunts will be available until 5 p.m. Dec. 31.

Oryx license fees are $161 for New Mexico residents, $1,618 for nonresidents. License fees will be charged at the time of successful online sale. Please consult the 2008-2008 Big-game & Trapper Rules & Information booklet for information about residency requirements.

To be eligible for the late-season hunts, applicants must have submitted a mandatory harvest report for 2007-2008 if they held deer or elk licenses or permits for that season, and meet all other eligibility requirements. Those who did not submit harvest reports can still do so for an $8 late fee by visiting a Department office in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Raton, Roswell or Las Cruces, or by calling (505) 476-8038.
