Chief Pilot (DGF #80209)

This position will work with resource division biologists and law enforcement operations division to conduct aerial surveys of wildlife populations to assess population status and to fly special operations documenting illegal activities. This will be accomplished by operating fixed-wing aircraft in a safe manner and maintaining aircraft in airworthy condition. In addition, this position will coordinate statewide aerial telemetry and perform winter waterfowl surveys within a required limited timeframe to include identification and scheduling of experienced observers and programming/maintaining aerial telemetry equipment.

Deputy General Counsel (DGF #5207)

This position provides direct legal services to the Department of Game and Fish, including the director, directorate, division management and technical staff on complex legal issues relating to operational and administrative matters. This position provides comprehensive legal and policy advice regarding situations involving the Endangered Species Act, the state’s Wildlife Conservation Act, IPRA, and other statutes involving wildlife management conducted by the Department. The incumbent will provide legal advice to the Department’s Directorate and, when required, the State Game Commission regarding the Department’s regulation of hunting and fishing in New Mexico, to include review of proposed rule making. This position also provides legal counsel to the Department regarding federal, state and administrative proceedings.
