Rio Grande Basin Native Fish Biologist (DGF #23237)

The purpose of this position is to lead conservation activities for native fishes in the Rio Grande basin and the Pecos River drainage. This position will also be responsible for enhancement of the conservation status for numerous fish species through various projects; such as restoration, habitat improvement, captive propagation, health testing, and population monitoring across much of the state. This position will require extensive hiking, camping, ATV use, stock (horse and mule) use and operation of watercraft, as well as office, laboratory, and maintenance duties. This position also participates in numerous inter-agency and interstate committees and working groups. The position may also lead native fish conservation projects in other basins as necessary, and will assist other biologists with native and sportfish management projects throughout the state.
