The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will be fly fishing with youth at Tingley Beach in Albuquerque in conjunction with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Central New Mexico and Fly Fish New Mexico.

Department staff will teach an aquatic insect lesson to a class at Whittier Elementary School. The class is participating in the Trout in the Classroom program, which allows them to rear rainbow trout from egg stage to fry stage and stock them in public waters. During this time, the students do in-depth studies about their trout and trout habitat. This event is closed to the public.
Senior’s enrolled in the Senior Archery Extended Learning Program through WNMU will take part in a 3-hour, hands- on archery workshop. Participants will be assigned and fitted with archery equipment, and then taken step by step through the NASP 11-Steps of Archery Success program. Archers will have time to refine their skills shooting at 80 cm bullseye targets. A number of fun shooting games will complete the workshop.
Must be enrolled in the WNMU Senior Archery Continuing Education Program

Department staff will teach a lesson to a class that is participating in the Trout in the Classroom program. The lessons will be about New Mexico fishing, how to cast and land a fish and identifying different game fish in New Mexico. This event is closed to the public.
This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. - Create a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/
- Email the Volunteer Coordinator, Chris Jarvis, at chris.jarvis@dgf.nm.gov for the appropriate volunteer application documents.
- Once the application is approved, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account
