The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will offer a free all terrain vehicle (ATV) safety training class to the public. The class will be held at the City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park west of Double Eagle Airport. Training machines and safety gear are available; no sharing is allowed. Each student must bring weather-appropriate clothing (gloves, boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirt), a snack or lunch, water and sunscreen. COVID precautions will be followed; COVID plan is available for download when registering for class.
Students must have a customer identification number with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. All students must pre-register to reserve a place in any class that is offered. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has scheduled a public meeting in order to allow the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to discuss and prioritize current Habitat Stamp Program project opportunities. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish was asked to provide Off-Highway Vehicle Act certification training to basic State Police Academy cadets at the New Mexico Dept of Public Safety Academy. This event is free but not open to the public. The certification training will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico at a closed to the public indoor training facility.

Department staff will conduct a range cleanup at the department’s Tres Piedras shooting range on Sept. 21, 2022. The range will be closed to the public on this day for staff safety.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish OHV program was asked to provide certified ROV training to employees of Los Alamos National Laboratories who use UTVs as part of their official duties. Students will be registered manually after reporting their CINs. This event is closed to the public.

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. Interested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:

Department staff will be making repairs to the berms and doing a general cleanup at the department’s Stephen M. Bush Shooting Range in Clayton, New Mexico. This will take place over Oct. 12-13, 2022. The range will be closed to the public on these days for staff safety.
NMDGF will be working the Bernardo Youth Pheasant Hunt. This hunt is only open for youth who drew a permit.
