You’re invited to join us virtually on Tuesday, April 11 at 5:30 p.m. to talk turkey with Storm Usrey, the department’s conservation education program manager.
Storm has been employed with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish for over 17 years and has worked as a conservation officer, resident game bird biologist and corporal. He is currently serving as the conservation education manager.
He is a lifelong resident of New Mexico and enjoys the diversity of culture, history, food and wildlife. His passion for hunting wild turkeys has led him to Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona to pursue this sizable gallinaceous bird. Time spent in the woods with families in these states has been the real prize to him in his hunting adventures. Storm constantly tries to educate himself on wild turkeys and the tactics used for hunting them. He has harvested Merriam’s, Rio Grande and Osceola subspecies in his pursuits around the United States.
