This workshop is the hands-on portion of a hybrid National Archery in the School Program (NASP) model for certification as a NASP Basic Archery Instructor. NASP-certified instructors can present the NASP curriculum to students in grades 4-12 throughout New Mexico.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents a class on enforcement of the Off Highway Vehicle act to DPD & LCSO so they can learn the laws on OHV’s in New Mexico as per grant agreement.
National Hunting and Fishing Day. No fishing license required on Sept 23-24; all other fishing rules apply
New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program staff will be fishing with up to 25 youth from the Santa Fe home-school community. Department staff will be on hand to teach the kids how to tie a fishing knot, set up a fishing rig and practice casting skills before fishing.

NMDGF will be doing various outdoor activities with a girl scout group. Activities will include casting, archery and wildlife presentation.
New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program staff will be fishing with 40 elementary school kids from Dolores Gonzales Elementary School at Tingley Beach. Department staff will review knot tying, setting up a fishing rig and casting procedures and how to put a rig together. Participants will then set up their own rigs to fish.
NMDGF will be running a booth at Valles Caldera to talk about elk and other wildlife.

The Aquatic Education team will conduct a presentation on how to teach fishing in a PE program. We will be conducting two in-service sessions (9:30-10:15 a.m. and 1:05-1:50 p.m.) – one for elementary PE teachers, and one for secondary PE teachers. The sessions will focus on how the teachers can bring a fishing curriculum into their PE programs and what resources are available to them.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class at the old racetrack at the Doña Ana County Fairgrounds, site of the Southern New Mexico State Fair.
Students completing the class receive the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years on public lands. Students under the age of 18 will also receive a free helmet and goggles.
ATVs and safety gear will be available for use during the class.
