An estimated 225 elementary, middle, and high school age special needs students from around the school district will be participating over four days of fishing with sponsorship from the NMSU Bass Club.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class at the Hatch Municipal Airport just southwest of Hatch, New Mexico. Students completing the class receive the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years. Students under the age of 18 will also receive a free helmet and goggles.
ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.
Students must be at least 6 years of age. Space is limited – all students must already have or must create a free account with the Department of Game and Fish (https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/), and register prior to the class. This camp is for participants of any age who are interested in learning more about the basics of archery and bowhunting. Participants will learn archery basics and safety, how to choose equipment, proper shot placement while hunting, outdoor preparedness and more! All archery equipment will be provided; however, you are encouraged to bring your own equipment if you have it. Participants are responsible for food and drinks.

She will highlight her trials and errors of learning to shoot and hunt with a rifle after being an avid bowhunter all of her life. Not only will you learn about archery and bowhunting basics from an expert during this session you will learn through a novice’s recent, personal experiences with adapting to shoot a rifle and you will find her inspirational narrative worth joining.
