The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents basic ATV & ROV safe operations to new Conservation Officer recruits.
The NMDGF Aquatic Education program will be fishing with 30 youth, ages 12 – 17 from Jemez Pueblo as part of thier Youth Development Day Program. Adult chaperones and Jemez tribal police will be assisting. The NMDGF Aquatic Education staff will be on hand to teach the kids how to tie a fishing knot, set up a fishing rig and practice casting skills before fishing.

This will be a 3D archery shoot competition where youth will compete for prizes such as belt buckles and bows. There will also be a team (duo) competition where an adult and a youth pair up and compete against other teams for belt buckles. Archery equipment will be provided. Individuals can use their own equipment for fun but in order to compete for prizes they have to use our equipment. Food and drinks will be provided.
No registration. Need to finish shooting by 11 a.m.
This class is open to any lady seeking to learn or improve on their fly fishing, casting skills and abilities. Participants will receive instruction and coaching from Trish Valdez and other Trout Unlimited – Bosque Chapter members to gain or improve their fly casting skills for fly fishing. No equipment is necessary but ladies are encouraged to bring their own if they have it. This is for all levels of angler!

This workshop is for certification as a Basic Archery Instructor for participation in the National Archery in the Schools Program. The workshop follows a hybrid-learning model with both online and in-person instruction. All equipment is provide for training purposes. Register online at www.naspbai.org.

The Department will be hosting a pre-bid Zoom meeting to answer questions potential contractors may have about becoming a Department hunting/shooting/fishing camp contractor. We will provide an overview of what responsibilities the contractor would have as well as general requirements.
Overview: Camp contractors will host day and overnight hunting, fishing and shooting camps, as needed and determined by the Department. We encourage anyone interested in becoming a camp contractor to attend this meeting. However, attendance is NOT MANDATORY to place a bid. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents a class on ROV safe operation training for Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department deputies. BCSO open space requested training on ROV due to the purchase of new machines.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under 18 years of age.
ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.
This clinic is open to women of all ages living in the southern regions of New Mexico interested in learning the basics of fly fishing. Participants will learn the basic knowledge and skills needed to get them started on the water. Part I of the class students will learn about the equipment used for fly fishing, how to set up a fly rod and reel with leader, tippet and fly. The class will cover the different types of flies used for trout fishing, what they represent, knots to attach them, and some strategies and tactics to know when and how to fish them effectively. Part II will cover the basics of fly casting on the water, covering the two most important casts, overhead and roll.
This class will be offered by volunteers from the Gila and Rio Grande Chapters of Trout Unlimited..

This class is open to any lady interested in learning the basics of fly fishing. This session will focus on fly fishing equipment selection, knot tying, selecting lures/flies, reading the water for best catching results, skills to hook, land and release a fish, what you need before you go, and much more! This is a BYOL (bring your own lunch event).
This class will be offered by volunteers from the Bosque Chapter of Trout Unlimited and no equipment is required.

The Department’s annual exhibit at the New Mexico State Fair will be open to fair attendees Sept. 7-17 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., featuring live fish species and educational displays. Department staff will also be on hand to answer questions from the public.

Department staff will be on hand to participate and talk about wildlife and tools of a survival pack, along with OHV information.
New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program staff will be fishing with up to 30 senior citizens from the Rio Bravo Senior Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at Tingley Beach on Sept. 22, 2023, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Department staff will review tying a fishing knot, putting a rig together and practice casting before fishing. Experienced anglers will help those with less experience.
National Hunting and Fishing Day. No fishing license required on Sept 23-24; all other fishing rules apply
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an off-highway motorcycle safety class open to the general public. Students earn the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years.
Off-highway motorcycles and safety gear are available for use during the class. A parent or guardian must remain on site during the class.
