This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses.
This workshop also provides a New Mexico Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required New Mexico hunter education number.

Interested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:

This camp is for participants of any age who are interested in learning more about the basics of archery and bowhunting. Participants will learn archery basics and safety, how to choose equipment, proper shot placement while hunting, outdoor preparedness and more! All archery equipment will be provided; however, you are encouraged to bring your own equipment if you have it. Participants are responsible for food and drinks.
Registration opens Nov. 7. Registration forms will be available for download off the following Game & Fish web page, https://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/education/skills-camps/ and click on the Shooting tab. Join us Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. for an inspirational and uplifting journey on how avid outdoors woman, Joni Marie got started. She will highlight her trials and errors of learning to shoot and hunt with a rifle after being an avid bowhunter all of her life. Not only will you learn about archery and bowhunting basics from an expert during this session you will learn through a novice’s recent, personal experiences with adapting to shoot a rifle and you will find her inspirational narrative worth joining.

Video Series Premiere – Drawing Your Way to Success!
Join New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Communications Director Darren Vaughan and Licensing Operations Manager Chad Nelson as they discuss the ins and outs of the 2023-2024 Big Game Draw in the first video of the department’s “Drawing Your Way to Success” series. Game Commission to meet Jan. 27
SANTA FE – The New Mexico State Game Commission will hold a virtual meeting starting at 9 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27. The full agenda, attendee information and additional information will be available on the Department of Game and Fish website.
