The NMDGF will be participating in the Valle de Oro NWR Latino Conservation Week – Outdoors 101 Day. NMDGF personnel will be demonstrating casting skills with children visiting the refuge. Other non-Department activities will be provided as well.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will offer a free off-highway motorcycle (OHM) safety training class to the public. The class will be held at the City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park west of Double Eagle Airport. Training machines and safety gear are available; no sharing is allowed. Each student must bring weather-appropriate clothing (gloves, boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirt), a snack or lunch, water and sunscreen. COVID precautions will be followed; COVID plan is available for download when registering for class.
Students must have a customer identification number with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. All students must pre-register to reserve a place in any class that is offered. Community Catfish Fishing Derby at Escondida Lake
7 a.m.: Registration for youth anglers
8 a.m.: Noon – Fishing Event
All are welcome to attend.
Prizes awarded to top youth in each age category.
NM Fishing License required for ages 12 and over.
Registration on site at 7 a.m. for youth.
The NMDGF Aquatic Education program will be participating in fly fishing with 20 youth and parents / guardians for kids ages six through nine years old at Coyote Creek State Park, in Mora, New Mexico. Debbie Pike will be the lead at this event.
