This course is open to students seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, virtual break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students and will also include a live-fire portion on the range (all firearms and ammunition is provided. Personal firearms are not permitted). Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from Albuquerque Game and Fish Office, 7816 Alamo Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. The manual can be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish’s aquatic education program will participate in Outdoor Adventure Day, scheduled for April 30 at Trees Lake in Deming. The event is open to youth ages 5-15. Families are welcome. Registration details can be found at www.natureninos.org . NMDGF staff will be working at the fishing station, with other stations available including archery, wildlife calls, a wildlife identification station and a waterfowl identification station.
