Department staff will be teaching a fishing lesson to three different elementary school classes that are participating in the Trout in the Classroom (TIC) program. The students will be learning how to assemble rods, tie knots, bait hooks, cast safely and catch, land and release fish. This event is closed to the public.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program will be working the fishing station with the Village of Pecos, and Trout Unlimited, Truchas Chapter for Free Fishing Day on June 1, 2024 at Monastery Lake. The Department will loan fishing rigs, tackle and bait to participants in need of equipment.

There will be two fishing sessions each of the three days, Session No. 1 is from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and Session No. 2 is from 1:30-4 p.m. This event is closed to the public.
