Tiger Muskie Fishing Camp. @ Bluewater Lake State Park

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish in conjunction with New Mexico Outdoor Adventures will host a Tiger Muskie Fishing Camp, at Bluewater Lake State Park, on June 14-16, 2024.  Campers will be provided with everything from instruction to gear to meals. Campers will need to provide their own fishing licenses, tent or wheeled camper, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. We will have a reserved group camping area at the State Park. Open to families and individuals with previous fishing experience but that have never fished for Tiger Muskie.

Registration will open at 8 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  It will close when the camp is full.  Please only register if you have not previously attended this camp.  Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“Hook, Line and Sip: Casual Coffee with Game and Fish” – Coffee with the Department @ The Lake House Cafe

This event is open to the public of all ages. Anglers, Hunters and Trappers in the Logan, New Mexico, area are welcome to meet with Law Enforcement, Fisheries and Wildlife personnel to ask any questions about the natural resources and use in their area.

Hunter Education Instructor Training Workshop @ NM Department of Game and Fish Southwest Area Las Cruces

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the instructor to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop will also provide the NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. Registration Details:

Interested applicants need to first become certified Game and Fish volunteers. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:

1. Create a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/

2. Email Chris Jarvis at chris.jarvis@dgf.nm.gov for complete volunteer on-boarding packet.

3.Once the application is approved, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account

Advanced Hunter Education Skills Camp @ Wedding Cake Ranch
Jul 12 @ 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This camp is open to youth ages 10 to 17 who are accompanied by a registered adult. Camp is free, meals will be provided and participants will tent-camp on the property. Participants will learn safe and responsible firearms handling, ethical hunting behaviors, conservation, wildlife identification and basic survival skills. Additionally, participants will learn from department conservation officers about their jobs including wildlife investigations, decoy operations and working with wildlife and test their marksmanship skills with bows and arrows, .22 rifles and shotguns. All equipment will be provided.
