Hunter Education – Live Fire Course @ Belen Shooting Sports Association

This course is open to students seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, virtual break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students and will also include a live-fire portion on the range (all firearms and ammunition are provided; personal firearms are not permitted). Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from Albuquerque Game and Fish Office, 7816 Alamo Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. The manual can be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Jan. 14 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Casting skills with Wood Gormley Outdoor Club @ Wood Gormley Elementary School

Fishing Workshop
Jan 31 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will host a workshop for the Homeschoolers of Las Cruces. The workshop will include lessons about fishing safety, knots, equipment, fish identification and casting. A fishing field trip is scheduled for the following week. This event is closed to the public.

Wild Turkey Presentation at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute @ Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI)

Arizona-New Mexico Chapter of American Fisheries Society

NMDGF will be participating at the Arizona-New Mexico Chapter of American Fisheries Society in Farmington, New Mexico. Staff will be participating in a mentor lunch, wildlife/fisheries competition, and attending scientific presentations.

This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class.
