Hunter Education Course @ Mora High School
Dec 8 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

What do I need for class:

  1. Obtain a copy of the hunter education student manual at Mora High School Office, 10 Ranger Rd., Mora, NM or download a free electronic manual from www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/.
  2. Complete worksheets from the student manual. Worksheets can be printed from the website listed above OR completed on pages 91-94 in the back of the hardcopy student manual.
  3. There are no fees associated with department hunter education courses; however, donations may be offered to volunteers to help offset out-of-pocket expenses to put on the course.
  4. Bring a sack lunch, snacks and drinks.

Special Notes:

  • Student worksheets must be 100% complete prior to class or students will not be allowed to participate in the course, no exceptions. DO NOT bring firearms or ammunition to the course. Firearms are provided.
  • Students MUST attend all course sessions. Students arriving late will not be permitted.
  • Students 10 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the course.
Law Enforcement Off-Highway Vehicle/ ATV Safe Patrol Operation @ Del Norte Gun Club

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents a class on ATV safe operation for Law Enforcement. Class was requested by BIA for their LEOs and is one of three blocks being put on. This class is rescheduled from the class canceled on Nov. 20, 2023, due to inclement weather.

Hunter Education Instructor Training Workshop @ NM Department of Game and Fish Southwest Area Office

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the instructor to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop will also provide the New Mexico Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required New Mexico hunter education number.

All participants must register prior to attending. Please see registration details below.

 

Registration Details: 

Interested applicants need to first become certified Game and Fish volunteers. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer:

1. Create a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/

2. Email Chris Jarvis at chris.jarvis@dgf.nm.gov for complete volunteer on-boarding packet.                                                                                                   

3.Once the application is approved, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account

Application Period Deadline; Citizen Advisory Committee for the Habitat Stamp Program

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) is accepting applications from the public to be appointed by the State Game Commission to the Habitat Stamp Program Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC represents the Habitat Stamp Program as a volunteer working group with the NMDGF. Members of the CAC work with program and project managers from the NMDGF, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and US Forest Service (USFS) to represent New Mexico public interest as it pertains to fish and wildlife habitat restoration projects that occur on BLM and USFS lands throughout New Mexico.

· The deadline to apply is December 15th, 2023 at 5pm MST

Hunter Education @ Isleta Police Department (Briefing Room)

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Isleta Open Space Office, 3950 Building E, Isleta Pueblo, NM. The manual can also be downloaded for free at, www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration Details:

Registration opens on Nov. 27, and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.
