Hunter Education @ Bloomfield, NM

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent or adult present with them during class. All registered students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. The manual can be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/ or students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Bloomfield Pawn Shop, 708 W. Broadway Ave., Bloomfield, NM 87413, (Please call for store hours (505) 632-2972). Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration Details:

Registration opens on Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. and is conducted online through the student’s Customer ID Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.     

Adult quail hunting camp @ Bottomless Lakes State Park campground
Feb 9 @ 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Participants will learn how to identify quail, practice clay shooting, quail hunt and field dress quail. They will also learn about rules and regulations and receive a refresher on hunter safety. Camping will take place at Bottomless Lakes State Park campground near Roswell and the hunt will take place on nearby public land.

Registration Details:

  • Would like women and men over 18 years of age who have never hunted before.
  • Registration Opens – Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at 9 a.m.
  • Registration Closes – When full.
  • Participant Orientation on Zoom – Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, from 6-6:45 p.m. Attendance is MANDATORY.
  • Zoom link will be emailed to successful registrants on Friday, Feb. 2.

SCI SNM Chapter Annual Banquet @ Roswell Convention Center

Department staff will set up a table for outreach at SCI’s annual banquet with the help of field operations staff from the Department’s Southeast Area.

Hunter Education with Live Fire @ Carlsbad Shooting Range
Feb 9 @ 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in a live fire component on the Department’s pellet rifle shooting trailer. Students 10 and under must have a parent or adult present with them during class. All registered students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. The manual can be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/ or students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Courtesy Sporting & Pawn, 1095 N. Canal St., Carlsbad, NM 88220. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on break-out sessions and homework to educate students. Students under 11 must have a parent or adult present with them during class. All registered students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.
