Hunter Education with Live Fire @ Carlsbad Shooting Range

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in a live fire component on the Department’s pellet rifle shooting trailer. Students 10 and under must have a parent or adult present with them during class. All registered students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. The manual can be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/ or students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Courtesy Sporting & Pawn, 1095 N. Canal St., Carlsbad, NM 88220. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Feb. 14, at 9 a.m. and is conducted online through the student’s Customer ID Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Casting & New Mexico Fish Identification Lesson Plan with Truman Middle School @ Truman Middle School Field

NMDGF will be teaching four 45 minute lessons to four different middle school classes that are participating in the Trout in the Classroom program. The lessons will be about New Mexico fishing, how to cast and land a fish, and identifying different game fish in New Mexico.

Advanced ATV Law Enforcement Training @ Grant County

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program will present a class on Advanced ATV LEO safe operation training for Grant County Sheriff’s Department deputies. This class was rescheduled from Feb. 2-4 due to inclement weather. This event is closed to the public.

Aquatic Presentation & Casting Skills with Northern New Mexico Community College, Espanola @ Northern New Mexico Community College Campus
