Game Commission to meet May 16

HOBBS – The New Mexico State Game Commission will hold a meeting at 9 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Lea County Event Center, 5101 N. Lovington Hwy., Hobbs, New Mexico 88240. The full agenda, location details, attendee information and general information will be available on the Department of Game and Fish website 

If you are interested in participating or providing comments, but cannot attend the meeting in person, you are encouraged to pre-register to attend the meeting on the Zoom Webinar platform. For those who wish only to view the meeting, there will also be a live webcast on the Department’s website. 

If you are an individual with a disability who needs a reader, amplifier, qualified sign language interpreter or any other form of auxiliary aid or service to attend or participate in the meeting, please contact Darren Vaughan at 505-476-8027 or darren.vaughan@dgf.nm.gov. Fishing Clinic @ Oasis State Park

This fishing clinic is for the K-first graders of SGES.  The fishing clinic will consist of fishing safety, knots, equipment, casting, and fish identification.  Fishing will be at Lake Van.   

Fishing and Wildlife Trunks @ Moriarity NM
May 17 @ 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Department staff will be fishing and showing wildlife trunks to kids with the Moriarty-Edgewood School District Early Childhood Center.

Fishing Clinic @ Monastery Lake
May 20 @ 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

This fishing clinic is for the eighth-grade students of Monte del Sol School. The fishing clinic will consist of fishing safety, knots, equipment, casting, and fish identification. There will be a hatchery tour followed with fishing at Monastery Lake.         

Fishing with Monte Del Sol Charter School @ Monastery Lake

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education program will be fishing with Monte del Sol School, Santa Fe, at Monastery Lake on May 20 in conjunction with the Trout in the Classroom program. The event is closed to the public.

This fishing clinic is for the fourth-grade students of Mesa View School. The fishing clinic will consist of fishing safety, knots, equipment, casting, and fish identification.  Fishing will be at the Riverwalk.           

Fishing with Rio Rancho Senior Citizens @ Liam Knight Pond
May 21 @ 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education Program staff will be fishing with the city of Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation & Community Service, Division of Senior Services, at Liam Knight Pond, Corrales, New Mexico on May 21, 2024. The event is closed to the public.
