This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. All students will complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework during class. Students pick up a free hard copy manual during Felix Hernandez’s class. At the lake, the students will assemble their gear and go fishing. We normally practice catch and release; however, a few fish will be kept for dissection purposes. NMDGF employees are encouraged to participate in a 3D archery fun shoot at the Santa Fe office. Beginners are welcome and all equipment (user friendly) is provided. The archery range will be a walking range (just like if you were golfing) but with 10-15 targets. Archers will be groups with two to three other archers to walk the range. Each archer will shoot once, score their arrow and proceed to the next target. Scores will be tabulated at the conclusion of the event. This event is closed to the public.

This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending.
