Hunter Education Live Fire Course @ Belen Shooting Sports Association
Feb 18 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

This course is open to students seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, virtual break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students and will also include a live-fire portion on the range (all firearms and ammunition is provided. Personal firearms are not permitted). Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from Albuquerque Game and Fish Office, 7816 Alamo Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. The manual can be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Feb. 4 and is conducted online through the student’s Customer ID Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

Hunter Education – Field Day @ Bluewater Lake State Park
Feb 18 @ 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

A Field Day course is an accelerated, instructor-led hunter education course and is for students 10 years of age and older. Students under 11 must have a parent/adult present with them during class. This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at Bluewater Lake State Park, 30 Bluewater St. Park Rd., Prewitt, or the manual can be downloaded for free at anytime from, hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration opens on Jan. 23, 2023 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on “Hunter Education,” then click the “Register for Hunter Ed Classes” button and follow the prompts.

Hunter Education @ Virden Community Center

This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. Wildlife Presentation at Valencia High School @ Valencia High School

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will be giving a wildlife presentation to wildlife students at Valencia High School. This event is not open to the public.

Veterans Open House @ SE Area Game & Fish Office

The Department of Game and Fish and the Department of Veterans Services have teamed up to provide open house opportunities to community veterans seeking information about unique services and opportunities provided to them. Each agency, along with other partners, will be available to answer questions as well as register veterans for programs, services and opportunities during this event. The Game and Fish Department will specifically provide information on hunting and angling opportunities available to veterans as well as provide help in purchasing licenses and applying for hunting opportunities through the public draw.
