Sierra Blanca Archery Shoot @ Moon Mountain Disc Gold Course

This will be a 3D archery shoot competition where youth will compete for prizes such as belt buckles and bows. There will also be a team (duo) competition where an adult and a youth pair up and compete against other teams for belt buckles. Archery equipment will be provided. Individuals can use their own equipment for fun but in order to compete for prizes they have to use our equipment. Food and drinks will be provided.

No registration. Need to finish shooting by 11 a.m.

Ute Lake Outdoor Day @ Ute Lake State Park ( McFarland Ramp Overlook)

Outdoor Day at Ute Lake State Park in Logan. Activities will include the Poach Coach, pellet gun trailer, casting demonstrations, wildlife identification presentation, archery (NASP) and water safety presentation by New Mexico State Parks. NMDGF Officers and State Park Rangers will be present and putting on the event. It will be a busy weekend at the lake, and, weathering permitting, should be a large turnout.

Ladies Fly Fishing – Casting Clinic @ NW Area Game & Fish Office

This class is open to any lady seeking to learn or improve on their fly fishing, casting skills and abilities. Participants will receive instruction and coaching from Trish Valdez and other Trout Unlimited – Bosque Chapter members to gain or improve their fly casting skills for fly fishing. No equipment is necessary but ladies are encouraged to bring their own if they have it. This is for all levels of angler!

Advanced Hunter Education Camp @ Camp Whinahpay

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is hosting a special hunter education camp at Camp Wehinahpay in the beautiful Sacramento Mountains east of Alamogordo. Registration for this unique, advanced hunter education course opens Thursday, July 6, to youth 10 years of age and older who have not yet passed hunter education. Youth must be 10 at the time of registration and have an adult register and participate in the camp with them.

Participants will build on their hunter education knowledge gained from an online course prerequisite while at camp and also shoot .22 rifles, practice archery and fish! This is a FREE opportunity. Participants will be responsible for their own camping gear (tents, sleeping bags or campers) and meals will be provided Saturday lunch through Sunday lunch.

Registration Details:

Hunter Education – Field Day @ Kew Library,
Aug 9 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

A Field Day course is an accelerated instructor-led hunter education course and is for students 10 years of age and older. Students under 11 must have a parent/adult present with them during class. This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual by contacting Ed Rosetta at 505-263-5337 or the manual can be downloaded for free at any time from https://www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Registration Details:

Registration opens to tribal members in person on Aug. 19 with instructor at Kewa Library, Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico. Public registration will then open on Aug. 21 via the Department’s online Customer Account (CIN) system.
