This clinic is open to women of all ages living in northern New Mexico interested in learning the basics of fly fishing. Participants will learn the basic knowledge and skills needed to get them started on the water. In part one of the class students will learn about the equipment used for fly fishing, how to set up a fly rod and reel with leader, tippet and fly. The class will cover the different types of flies used for trout fishing, what they represent, knots to attach them, and some strategies and tactics to know when and how to fish them effectively. Part two will cover the basics of fly casting on the water, covering the two most important casts, overhead and roll. This class will be offered by volunteers from the Bosque Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish in conjunction with New Mexico Outdoor Adventures will host a Tiger Muskie Fishing Camp, at Bluewater Lake State Park, on June 14-16, 2024. Campers will be provided with everything from instruction to gear to meals. Campers will need to provide their own fishing licenses, tent or wheeled camper, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. We will have a reserved group camping area at the State Park. Open to families and individuals with previous fishing experience but that have never fished for Tiger Muskie.
Registration will open at 8 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. It will close when the camp is full. Please only register if you have not previously attended this camp. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education Program staff will be fishing with the city of Rio Rancho, Parks and Recreation & Community Service, Division of Senior Services, at Liam Knight Pond, Corrales, New Mexico on May 21, 2024. The event is closed to the public.
This event is open to the public of all ages. Anglers, Hunters and Trappers in the Logan, New Mexico, area are welcome to meet with Law Enforcement, Fisheries and Wildlife personnel to ask any questions about the natural resources and use in their area.
