All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Training (ATV) @ City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park
Jul 23 @ 9:30 am – 3:30 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will offer a free all terrain vehicle (ATV) safety training class to the public. The class will be held at the City of Albuquerque Shooting Range Park west of Double Eagle Airport. Training machines and safety gear are available; no sharing is allowed. Each student must bring weather-appropriate clothing (gloves, boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirt), a snack or lunch, water and sunscreen. COVID precautions will be followed; COVID plan is available for download when registering for class.

Students must have a customer identification number with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. All students must pre-register to reserve a place in any class that is offered. Fly Fishing Camp @ Coyote Creek State Park

The NMDGF Aquatic Education program will be participating in fly fishing with 20 youth and parents / guardians for kids ages six through nine years old at Coyote Creek State Park, in Mora, New Mexico. Debbie Pike will be the lead at this event.

Habitat Stamp Program Public Meeting

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has scheduled a public meeting in order to allow the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to discuss and prioritize current Habitat Stamp Program project opportunities. Members of the public are invited to attend this hybrid public meeting in order to provide comment(s). Current project opportunity summary slides are available to view on the Habitat Stamp Program website. Members of the CAC and the public are encouraged to review project opportunity summary slides in advance of the hybrid public meeting.

As the fall hunting seasons are kicking off, we hope you have or are developing plans to go afield. This is a great opportunity to take someone new into the field with you. Don’t know where to start? Don’t worry we have you covered! Join us on Aug. 16, 2022, starting at 5:30 p.m.; we will cover everything to help you prepare to take your family or friend into the field.

For this session, we are bringing in a strong female voice that promotes women’s hunting opportunities: Jana Waller.

Jana Waller is the Host and Executive Producer of “Skull Bound Chronicles,” a hunting and conservation series, currently in its fourth season on CarbonTV. Previously she produced and hosted Skull Bound TV for nine years on The Sportsman Channel where she received a Golden Moose Award for Best In Conservation in 2018. She’s been a lifelong hunter and ardent conservationist belonging to numerous conservation organizations for which she’s raised over $82,000 with her skull artwork.

Jana was awarded the Communicator Of The Year award in 2015 by the National Wild Turkey Federation as well as received an Alumni Award in 2016 from her alma mater, the University Of Wisconsin-Whitewater, for “promoting women in the outdoors” with the use of her public relations degree. She was also awarded the Carbon TV Fan Favorite award for best host in 2019 and in 2020. Jana lives in the Bitterroot Valley where she was appointed as a Montana Wildlife Commissioner by Governor Greg Gianforte in the fall of 2021.
While this event is focused on ladies, we invite everyone to join us.

All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Training (ATV) @ Los Lunas River Park
Aug 27 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students completing the class receive the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years.

ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

Students must be at least 6 years of age. Space is limited – all students must already have or must create a free account with the Department of Game and Fish (https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/), and register prior to the class. This ensures that each student will have an age- and size-appropriate training ATV available.
