All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Training (ATV) @ Los Lunas River Park

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class provided by the Village of Los Lunas Open Space Division. Students completing the class receive the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years.

ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

Students must be at least 6 years of age. Space is limited – all students must already have or must create a free account with the Department of Game and Fish (https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/), and register prior to the class. This ensures that each student will have an age- and size-appropriate training ATV available.

Bowhunter Education Course @ NMDGF Roswell Office
Nov 19 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

This Bowhunter Education Course is an instructor-led, student course approximately 8 hours in length. This traditional style of course is for students of any age that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on and review methods to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Bowhunter student manual homework before arriving to class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual from NM Department Game and Fish Office, 1615 W. College Blvd., Roswell. Students are required to turn in their completed worksheets upon arrival to class. Students may bring their own archery equipment to class or can use provided archery equipment.

Registration opens on Oct. 26 and is conducted online through the students Customer Id Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

ATV Safety Class @ Hatch Municipal Airport

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Program presents an ATV safety class at the Hatch Municipal Airport just southwest of Hatch, New Mexico. Students completing the class receive the safety permit required for off-highway vehicle operators under the age of 18 years. Students under the age of 18 will also receive a free helmet and goggles.

ATVs and safety gear are available for use during the class.

Hunter Education – Field Day Carlsbad, New Mexico @ City of Carlsbad Shooting Range,

A Field Day course is an accelerated instructor-led hunter education course and is for students 10 years of age and older. Students under 11 must have a parent/adult present with them during class. This course incorporates less lecture and review and adds more hands-on components. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at City of Carlsbad Public Works, 1702 W Fox St., Carlsbad, NM, or the manual can be downloaded for free at anytime from, hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

Hunter Education – Albuquerque, New Mexico @ Kirtland Air Force Base

This course is only open to students who live on KAFB and/or who have KAFB access who are seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led, student course that incorporates lecture, video, hands-on break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Base students can pick up a free hard copy manual by contacting Michelle Huntley at 505-846-1499, Kirtland Air Force Base Outdoor Rec. Bldg., 8001 Gibson Blvd., Albuquerque, New Mexico. The manual can also be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.
