The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Aquatic Education team will be fishing with PE classes from Sandia High School on March 21, 2024 at Tingley Beach. There will be two sessions of 40 participants, with session #1 in the morning and session #2 in the afternoon. The students learned and practiced their casting skills using the NMDGF Fishing in the Schools Kit prior to the fishing date. This event is closed to the public.
This Annual Youth Fishing Clinic is sponsored by the Masonic Lodges of the Pecos Valley. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with judging for the largest/smallest fish at 10 a.m. This event is open to participants age 12 and younger. Bring your own fishing equipment. Refreshments will be provided.

New Mexico Department of Game and Fish staff will be fly fishing with Cub Scout Wolf Pack 16 and Fly Fish NM at Tingley Beach on March 23, 2024. The event is closed to the public.
This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture, video, break-out sessions, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at City of Clovis Shooting Range, 726 County Rd. 17, Clovis, NM 88101. The manual can also be downloaded for free at https://www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class.

This classroom session is open to any women who is new to fly fishing. You will learn the basics of fly fishing, equipment selection, fly selection, how to read the the water, landing and releasing skills, what to know before you head out to the water, fishing trip safety, and more! (Casting skills are not covered during this session) This classroom session is a prerequisite to participate in the TU-Ladies Casting Clinic.
