Bull elk poached during youth hunt

Fort Wingate & McGaffey – The Department of Game and Fish is looking for information that would assist in solving a case in which a bull elk was shot during opening morning of the youth encouragement hunt in GMU 10.

Officer Usrey received a report that a bull elk had been shot during the youth antlerless hunt off Highway 400 at mile marker 9 and was left in the field to rot. It was reported that the bull elk was shot from the road and the hunting party drove out to the carcass, circled it and drove off.
